Line Extension Error

A math error on a vendor invoice where quantity times unit price does not equal the line total — a simple arithmetic mistake that gets copied straight into QuickBooks and paid.

Line-extension errors are one of the easiest money leaks to prevent but one of the hardest to catch manually. When a vendor multiplies 15 units at $12 each but bills $280 instead of $180, that $100 error gets keyed right into QuickBooks because the total matches the physical invoice. Per-bill review rarely goes down to the line-item math. Invoice Auditor checks the arithmetic on every item-based bill line — quantity × unit price vs. line amount — and only flags genuine, material discrepancies that aren't just penny rounding or tax. It surfaces the expected math vs. what was billed, with the exact overpayment, for your review.
